On 5th and 6th of March 2008 a workshop was held in Chisinau, Moldova, for the participants in the IFAD-WUR programme “Supply Chain Management Support”. The objective of the workshop was to strengthen the value chains on vegetables and one on dairy products. The workshop also provided follow-up on the supply chain plans that were developed by the market partners during the Supply Chain Course and study tour in the Netherlands, which took place from 3 until 11 September 2007. In this Supply Chain Course in The Netherlands market parties from cereals, dairy products (milk and cheese), vegetables and apples, as well as IFAD staff participated.
The overall goal of the IFAD-WUR project is to develop the capacity of the Consolidated Programme Implementation Unit (CPIU-IFAD) to facilitate smallholder farmers’ market participation and market access in a participatory supply chain management framework. The project is furthermore to enhance the impact of the IFAD-financed Rural Business Development Programme (RBDP) in Moldova at field level.
The role of Lambertus Vogelzang during the Supply Chain Course in the Netherlands and the workshop in March 2008 in Moldova was mainly on advising and guiding the further strengthening of the Moldovan dairy chain.
